This ferret was seriouslly neglected... you can feel his ribs and his spine its awful. He does have a vet appt coming up but until then he is on great food and i bought a vitamin supp that is supposed to help gain weight as well its called FURO VITE anyway... it is so THICK i can barely get it out of the tube... anyone have any advice on what to do with it??

When I used to live at home we had ferrets (my sister still does) when they were sick/to thin we would feed them a very wet liquidy mixture of ferret food soaked in water, peanut butter, ferretvite and sometimes if very sick a couple different kinds of canned baby food. My sisters girl Gabby was very very sick when we got her (before I moved out) and she had to eat that. She gained the wight back very well. Just be very very careful to water it down enough that the peanut butter is totally liquid because it can get stuck in their throat.

Try heating the tube a bit by putting it in a cup of hot water.
Bless you for rescuing this guy, sounds as though he needed a good life.

What I did with that type of stuff is just squeeze it so there's a bit sticking out of the tube and then let the ferret lick it up.
Another thing you can buy is Ferretone, it's more of a liquid/oil type thing.

Ferretone is a good idea, our ferrets go nuts over it!

We have 8in1 brand Ferretvite, that is not too thick, it's the same consistency as hairball remedy and the ferrets eat that well also.

You might also want to make some homemade Duck Soup. Simple ground up a high quality ferret kibble with water and Ferretone and make it to the consistency of to where you can pour it. This way he can just lap it up from a bowl. Make a batch and refrigerate what you don't use. Add warm water and mix to thin what was in the fridge for additional servings.

Thanks for taking him in. Would love to see pics!
