I have 3 wonderful cats. I've always had cats so I pretty much know how to train them. But my cat Midnite had a baby 6 weeks ago and she has already winged him for the most part on cat food. But I have just went out to get him kitten chow cause I know it's better for him. But my question that I have is i'm trying to potty train him, and everytime I put him in the litter box instead of using it he eats the litter. Is this normal and can the litter harm him? None of my other cats have done this before. Thanks for all the help you can give me.

I have heard of cats eating litter but not experienced it myself. Someone will come along to help you answer that question shortly I'm sure.

The only thing that would concern me is the type of litter. If it's a clay litter I would be worried since it can draw moisture from the kitty's system and actually clump in their tummies.

I would suggest you switch to a corn or wheat based litter such as World's Best Cat Litter (corn based) or Swheat Scoop (wheat but more dusty than WBCL).
