Kitten not going potty!!!

I just got my kitten last night. He drank a ton of water & ate some food. The whole night I kept putting him in the litter box and I showed him how to paw at the litter box. He never went bathroom. I woke up this morning expecting a little surprise, but there was nothing. I put him in the litter box again, but all he did was chase his tail! Is this normal? He's about 6.5 weeks old.
