I feed my cats on an abandoned urban lot I'm slowly but surely landscaping. I also garden (I grow vegetables) on that lot. Ennyhoo, I put out dry food for the cats after work; the next day I find it slimed by slug trails. When it rains, I often find drowned slugs in the watery slurry that used to be cat food.
I understand that I need to build some kind of overhead shelter for my feeding station, but how do I keep those damned slugs out? They also end up in the water bowl....
