Hello everyone!

I have a medium-haired cat who sheds quite a bit...and she's also a stickler for good grooming. Needless to say we have issues with hairballs. I've tried the kitty treats that have the hairball remedy stuff in them, but they're expensive and I've had bad luck holding jobs lately, I try to brush my cat whenever I can, but she doesn't let me do it often or for long enough. I heard from a former coworker that catnip is supposed to help with hairballs, but I don't see any difference.

Any suggestions for a budget minded person on preventing and treating hairballs for my cat? I hate to see and hear her trying to cough them up all the time.

Abby hates the cat hairball stuff. Chynna loves it and eats it right from the tube.

For Abby I just use plain Vaseline Petroleum Jelly.

I put about 1/2 teaspoon on her paw and let her lick it off. Sometimes she will lick it from my finger.

Petroleum Jelly? Wow...I would have never known treating hairballs could be as simple (and cost effective) as petroleum jelly! Thanks for the tip!
