I was curious when everyone puts up their Christmas tree??? My family and I ususally put ours up the day after Thanksgiving (black friday). But sometimes we wait a little later if we're busy. When do you put your tree up??

I don't have a tree so I won't be putting one up..My first year living alone and I think it might be a tad depressing to put up a tree just for myself.

Usually the day after Thanksgiving unless we are away, then basically as soon as we get home. Last year we never got decoration on it though. Courtesy 2 lil kittens....

I'm not going to put one up either, it really would be futile with my crew

I usually put mine up a few days before Thanksgiving. I go home for Thanksgiving and like to get it up before I leave.

This is Davidson's 1st year with the tree... should be interesting

lol...my kitties aren't the ones who mess up my tree- it's my wolf mix Ginger....she's soo big that she gets excited running back and forth in the house (completly oblivious to the fact that there's a tree in her way).....she knocks the entire tree over several times a year- it NEVER fails lol....thankfully, it's an artificial tree and it's pretty sturdy lol....

We put the tree up on my birthday, December 12, usually with champagne!

Cheers, from
SwampWitch

Note to Trouts Mom: I hope you have a calm and bright Christmas, you and Trout. I had six Christmases like that, just me and my kitties, and they were beautiful and relaxed... no stress, no pressure. I wish that for you, too.

Either on Thanksgiving after Dinner, or Black Friday after shopping & recovering from BF shopping. It will be Ginger's first Christmas, too, and we're really hoping that she takes the lead from Trent and Ophelia who have never shown any interest in it beyond laying underneath it.

We were never allowed to have the tree up for very long when we were growing up! My stepfather (as much as I love him) was a meanie when it came to holidays and festivals. We used to put the tree up 1 week before xmas and it HAD to come down before the 1st January!

The first Christmas after my parents got divorced the tree went up in November and didn't come down well into February!!!!! It was my Mothers little silent protest and it really annoyed my stepfather when he came to visit or picked one of us up! Sadly though, we've not had a tree up since then!

This is my partners and my first Christmas in our own home and he's insisting on a tree... albeit a fake one but I am really looking forward to having one up again! We are planning on having it up the first week of December... then it will really feel like winter and it will come down a day or so before New Year.... The decorations on the other hand, won't come down until end of January (All the true christmas decs will come down, only the sparkly lights will stay!)

Um, I Trout wouldn't appreciate the tree, she would just eat it

If were up to me, I'd put it up now, lol! But usually we do it the day after Thanksgiving, or sometime during that week. Mine don't do much climbing of the tree, but it is a revolving one, and they have been known to sit and watch it go around and around and around, lolol!!!

We put ours up a different time each year, it's a lot of work it's a 12 foot tree. The cats have never jumped in it but they like to hide under it...Severino's first christmas here he bit a Christmas light, so I had to rush him to the vet but nothing showed up on the x-ray so I must have got it all because I caught him in the act and pulled some out of his mouth!
Another year...because the tree is so big we were putting net lights on it, well somehow Sev got caught up in the net lights, it was Thanksgiving night and we had a houseful of people and I heard some noise, and he was caught up in the lights and kept twisting himself. I hate to think what would have happened if we weren't home!! So now only net lights on the top half of the tree!!! It was different around here when it was just the girls they never caused these kind of problems!! The boys=Trouble!!

We usally put ours up after Thanksgiving but Last year we had to put it up in the middle of October haha. My son who was 3 at the time had made a letter for Santa wiych was just a few drawing of what he wanted from Christmas but was cute anyway he can out cring saying Santa wont ever get his letter and i said why? and he looked up at me and said we dont have a tree up and santa only picks up letters under the tree. and how could i argue with that. So the tree went up that day. I am sure the Tree will be up sooner this year too

We put ours up any time after the first weekend in December and it stays up until Epiphany (January 6). With all the beautiful artificial trees now, they can go up earlier and stay up longer. With real trees I would put it up a few days before Christmas so it would last until January 6. If they get too dried out they can be quite a fire hazard.

I'm no Scrooge, but I think the retailers start Christmas way too soon - by the time it actually gets here I'm already sick of it and I personally don't enjoy it as much. And then, less than a week after Christmas they start putting Valentine stuff out in the stores - this is just nuts!

we put it up usually the week of thanksgiving...which sometimes it's the weekend before thanksgiving...

I try to get mine up early. I love the excitement of it, so sometimes it goes up the first or second week of November. My husband makes fun of me. I also have a tendency to let my kids start opening presents early (like one small one every few days), but my parents were the same way when I was growing up. IMO, if you are hosting Thanksgiving at your home, you should have the tree up to get everyone in the holiday spirit.

This year, we are having two Christmas trees. Our new home has a gorgeous fireplace with windows on each side, so we're going to put up one in front of both windows for the sake of symmetry and then have a lighted garland and stockings on the mantle. I'm so excited.
