This will be a rather hastily-written, non-Shakesperean effort. I just feel a need to ramble a little about our 20-year-old kitty who died this morning. I suppose this post is a sort of eulogy which will be recorded in cyberspace and the great cosmos and will be a resonance for all eternity.
This is a truly wonderful Website which I suspect many of us take for granted. I want to thank all the sponsors, administrators, moderators and forum members and guests.
Our kitty was a class-act. He was a stately-looking, short-haired black and white kitty with almond eyes. We adopted him about 20 years ago. His mannerisms were majestic and regal. He was proud and dignified. He provided our family with 20 years of non-stop amusement and entertainment. He was very energetic and amusing even in his advanced age and when he started slowing down, we thought of him as a "retired entertainer."
I've been around and owned (or they owned me) cats all of my life. I have a special place in my heart for them. Unlike people, cats are incapable of sin and evil thoughts. Sure, they kill birds and other prey, but that's their nature. They are predators by nature. There's no evil intent. There's an innocence about them.
We treated him wonderfully and he responded in kind. He had the best of food. Canned, dried and "people food" too. He had his freedom. He could go outside and roam around. I know the outside is hazardous for cats, but we want them to have their freedom.
He had been ill for several days. A thyroid gland condition. The vet could do no more. We feel fortunate that he died peacefully at home this morning. We were afraid he would suffer from severe pain and have to be taken to the vet and put to sleep. It was much better for us that he passed away at home. We buried him this morning with his favorite blanket, toy and red ribbon.
He was a classic kitty and died with dignity.
He will be missed by our whole family including our young orange and white kitty who is a mischievous, uncouth little brat. (But we love him, ha ha.)
Again, our thanks to admins and mods for letting me post. Best regards to everyone.
