Hi, I've been reading your site for quite a while, but just joined yesterday--(read about a kitten with an eye infection and had a similar experience).
Right now I don't have any cats of my own. My two old kitties--Suzy-19 years old and Snuggles--17 years old--passed away this summer. I do fostering for the MSPCA so I am not without purrfect friends though. It has been a hard season though. After my cats were gone, my first pregnant foster had a still born and one live tiny baby who died a day later. The mom had a terrible uri. I kept her til she was better and she was adopted within 4 days from the shelter! Then my next pregnant mom had 4 dead babies a week after I got her. A week later when I brought her back to get her checked at the shelter, they had 5 adorable tabbie kittens who needed fostering and my mom cat loved them. She's been great with them since!
They love her too. They nurse from her, but could she really be producing milk a week after her kittens died?
I also have an adorable terrier mix I got from the shelter shortly after I started volunteering there. I've had several mother cats who have been comfortable with him and he's great with them and the kittens. I have some cute photos of kittens curled up with him, and if I ever figure out how to send them, I will.
