i filled the sink up with lukewarm water. i grabbed 'bonkers' securely, but not tightly, by the neck and back and put his feet in the water. he squirmed but there is nowhere he can go because his feet were underwater and the bottom was slippery and i had a hold of his neck. i then flipped him on his back and kept only his head above water. i used the other hand to gently massage him.

then i dried him off a bit and gave him a treat. he didnt even squirm.

and then i washed the next 2 cats. same thing. very easy.

i'm gonna buy some cat shampoo and i'll wash my kitties every 1-2 weeks and give them a worthwhile treat...

i think its an extremely hygenic thing to do. plus the fact that they're indoor cats, and are toilet trained. might as well start while they're young.

ps,

they look so funny when they're wet

glad to hear they were ok with the bathing.

I wouldnt think they need baths quite that often being indoors, and cats are generally hygenic to start with. I only bath my non showing babies a few times a year, or when its needed. Cats have a diffrent PH balance to their hair.

But thats just MO
if yours dont mind and it keeps em nice..have fun.

Personally unless they really are dirty and comb/brush is not getting them clean, I would not bathe more then once a month. Show cats are bathed more often only cause they are being shown. Otherwise too much washing can ruin their coats - plus if you are washing a lot you HAVE to be using a conditioner separate from the shampoo (not the 2 in 1).

I use top quality human shampoo AND conditioner. The pet stuff is not that good IMO.

Good job! Half the battle is making them think you don't expect trouble. One suggestion... get a rubbermaid mat for the bottom of the sink so they don't skid around. Ok ... two suggestions. Use rinse water with a couple gallons warm water with a couple tablespoons of white vinegar in it. It helps restore the ph balance of the skin and helps rinse shampoo out easier. I agree with GoldenKitty45 about the frequency of bathing though. If they are not being shown, or they're not dirty or greasy, I wouldn't bathe them more then once a month.

Just my opinion, but if they are indoor kitties only, I think once a month is even too often to bathe them.
