For years now, the cats have been getting water from a filtered pitcher...in fact, if I fill their bowls with tap water, they refuse to touch it. Mischief will even swat it out of the bowl. But, with 8 cats and a dog, it was becoming a full time job keeping the pitcher filled. So, this weekend's home improvement project was installing a under-sink water filter system in the bathroom beside their playroom. Doing this job should have taken about a hour, it took a little over three....why?......because the ENTIRE jellice tribe decided to help. During what had to be the funniest home improvement project ever, I learned a few things, and remembered a few things that I'd forgotten, like......

1. No matter how cramped a space you are working in, at least 2 cats will find a way to get in there with you.

2. Any time that you are working on something with tiny pieces, the cats will find those same tiny pieces to be incredibly fun to play with, to include a game that looks something like football and which results in the parts being swatted under the door.

3. A cat can make a rubber washer roll a long, long, long, long long way.

4. Its quite hard to screw tiny little nuts onto tiny little bolts while someone is swishing a tail under your nose.

5. Written instructions the size of a newspaper are a perfect place for 4 cats to take a nap!

6. Anything you drop is fair game!!

Other side of the coin....we made it work!!!

Awww... that sounds a lot like a lot of fun.

Just a quick question, are you at your max with 8, or would you take on a 9th if the right one came along?

Actually....I was at my max at 6. But Peanut Butterum and Sassy Sasparilla were a bonded pair at the shelter, surrendered together and had been together since a few weeks after birth. They were trying to get them adopted together, and a few people inquired about Sassy, but Peanut was being totally anti-social. So, I paid half their adoption fee to make them more adoptable...still no takers. So, they decided that they would have to be split up....or, send back to the regular shelter and put on the countdown clock. The director told me that what I had paid on their fee was plenty, if I had room....soooooo.

As it turned out, Peanut loves people. But, she is deaf as a stump, and Sassy is her ears, and as long as she and Sassy were taken out of the cages and kept together, she was a genuine lovebug. Its not the shelters fault though, I'd had them home a couple of weeks before I figured it out.

So, I am at max, but I'll never say never.

Oh, to have been a fly on the wall! (High enough to avoid detection.
