Can you get in touch with the vet that did the neuter?
Try that and tell him/her what is happeneing.

In the meantime try laying warm cloths on his tummy to see if that might help ease what could be cramping. (guessing here)

OK, can you get hold of any vet techs? Are there any shelters there that might give a recommendation?

OMG - don't know what to say, none of us are vets here, and we can't help him except to send out vibes! Poor Snowball!

Are there any vet hospitals? There has to be something!

with a loud scream. I was in tears. I called a vet that is supposed to make home visits, he told me it's late now for him. he gave me a number of an emergency (night) clinic but nobody is answering ! dad told me to make some oil in his rear, better to laugh at this. he's not screaming now, its like he relaxed a litle bit. |My throat is sore with smoking.

those numbers you gave are 99% only day vets and don't mind coming at night. I told before malta is like tht, like a deserted island at night when you most need help

Do you have any salmon oil you can give him a bit of?
Also, have you tried the warm washcloth on his tummy?
Was the vet you talked to willing to offer advice on what to do?

If he is pushing that hard to expell poo then keep an eye on his stitches that he doesn't open anything up with the straining.

I'm real sorry you can't seem to get hold of anyone to help.

Good Lord.... that was one of the worst time of my life !
Yesterday's vet told me to stay calm and wait for another poo, to see if it's too hard again. He gave me no advice on what to do, nothing, just told me to wait. Fortunatly after pushing that bit out, snow slept allright. It was awful. I didn't sleep a wink, I cheecked and re checked on him all night. (if he had hard poo again at night I would surely heard him !) His sister is ok though, they eat the same food, so I was thinking about the op, maybe it's related to that. The vet that did the op does not open the clinic today, so I have to wait till monday to talk to him. I'm giving snow some milk, maybe it helps a bit. I thank you all for ur concern, you were wonderful, I would surely got mad if I didn't have you talking to me here. I will keep you updated. Cross fingers for soft poo

I am so sorry to hear of poor Snowbell's illness. This could be a reaction to the anasthesia drug.
If you have some cod liver or salmon oil you can try mixing it with his food. Cod has a laxative effect.
If this is not possible, get him some wet food, not dry, as this will get some more water into him.
Try and see if he can drink more. This will also eliminate constipation.
I hope you have good news before Monday

You could try sprinkling a little Metamucil powder on his food... it works for people.

Will he drink tea? it's a natural dieuretic, a tiny bit of milk may help. it can cause the stools to be a bit softer, only a small amount though.

He usually sips my tea, he had his dose today. He took some sips of milk too. he's not a great drinker, more a great eater
But I noticed he took more water than he normally does. I checked the litter box and his poo was harder than usual (but not as hard as yesterday's) . But the sign that he pooed in the litter box is a good sign. Yesterday he was like in labour walking all over the house, didn't mind his box. So it's a good sign. I will keep both eyes on him, on monday I will call the vet that did the op and talk to him.
Ps : he won't eat that pumpkin hehe, I should have imagined but at least I tried. The stiches are allright, i checked them and they are still there luckily..

I'm so glad that he seems to be doing better this morning - I was so worried about him last night!

Sounds quite possible that he was constipated from the anesthesia - that happens to me after surgeries and from some pain meds. After I got spayed (hysterectomy, lol) I was also constipated - that was the WORST I'd ever experienced, so I really feel for the poor little guy!!!

Please keep us posted!!!

I'm just seeing this thread now....Poor Snowbell! And what a nerve wracking time for you all

I'm glad to hear he is getting better.

Spyder sometimes gets constipated and I add some baby food green beans to his food for a few days, just about a teaspoon and it usually helps.
