Tail issue

A neighbour of mine recently took in a abandoned kitten and showed me her, to see what i might recommend to do about its tail:




I told her to take it to the vet, but im not sure what the vet will say. Does anyone have any suggestions on what might've happened to this kittens tail and what the vet might do?

Its best your friend tke the kitten into the vets for a complete check up.Any abandoned kitten/cat needs to be checked. Its hard to say whats wrong with the kittens tail it could be so many things.Who knows what happened while it was outside.

Could it be mange? Do cat's get mange, or just dogs?

It's possible, but mange typically starts on and around the head.

To me it looks like some form of dermatitis, possibly caused by being dirty.

What a precious kitty!! So glad your neighbor took that cutie in!!

I also would recommend that she be taken to the vet. Not only for the tail, but also just for a good look over.

God only knows what it is but I say Ringworm! Dont let your neighboor get scared if it is ringworm it is treatable it just takes a whie... i am going though this right now with two of mine!
