I brought Sadie to visit my parent's cat Ling last weekend, and they were home alone together for 2 days (they get along well). As soon as I brought Sadie home, my parents said Ling became depressed, as if she were missing her pal. And, Sadie also became depressed (she would go into her carrying pen when I was at work, which is not like her usual behaviour). A few days later Sadie was back to her normal self, but Ling is still acting little "off." She won't eat her regular food (which she usually loves) and, in fact, her appetite has decreased. She's still drinking water and using her litterbox.
Any ideas/suggestions to help Ling feel better?

What a toughie - it sounds like Sadie and Ling really bonded
is there any way that your parents could adopt a kitten (preferably 2)? Other than that, it sounds like the best solution would be to see if Sadie could go stay with Ling, but then you would be without your precious baby
Your parents might try smothering Ling with attention to help her feel less lonely.

Unfortunately they won't get another baby, and I won't give up my sweet baby Sadie! So, smothering with attention seems the only course. Thank you for taking the time to respond
