I have 4 litterboxes for my 3 housecats. And of course, there is Will who comes in and out...I'm not sure if he is using litterboxes or the great outdoors.

Then I have 11 foster cats in the spare room, including 9 kittens. They have 4 more litterboxes. The older litter of 4 kittens is 7-1/2 weeks old, and using the litterboxes like pros. The younger litter is 5-1/2 weeks old, and they are starting to use the litterboxes, too.

This is always the point in fostering where I begin to lag on keeping the litterboxes clean...because it is so time consuming! Along with feeding them all, and now I'm treating for worms and earmites, etc. So I admit, while I scoop the kittens litterboxes once or twice a day, I have not been keeping up with the other litterboxes as well.

Now I guess it crossed a line. We found poop on the floor in my 17 y/o ds's room, my 7 y/o ds's room, and even the living room. So by slacking on a 10 minute job (scooping litterboxes), I had to clean up poo, clean spots of carpet, and even do an extra load of laundry. (They had pooed on a pile of dress-up clothes left on the floor of ds's bedroom.)

So I live in the poo palace. Hopefully now that all the litterboxes are clean, and will be staying clean, the problem is solved. But pew! Luckily the friend who is coming to visit tonight is a cat lover! LOL!

I have 3 litter boxes for 2 kitties, and today when i got in, there was a rotten smell of ammoniac. I was suprised because i had cleaned thoroughly 2 litter boxes yesterday and scooped the other one and it didnt look dirty.. well they must have been drinkign so much during the night and only used the "dirty one" that they ended up peeing out of the box, and the pee was under box and phwoar that smell was bad!
So i scrubbed the "dirty box" and the tiles on the floor THANK GOD FOR TILES!

I truly feel for you!

My bad!
Again, the cuter they get, the more time they take, the less pics I get, and the less I post on TCS!

They are simply adorable...I'll try to get some updated pics!

Thanks for understanding Fwan! Usually my "kids" are pretty forgiving of the occasional lapses...this time...it is poo city!

I am so thankful that my crew is understanding when I skip a day, but I never even push it to 2, I fear the mass rebellion that may take place!
I agree, more pics are needed!

Haha, don't you love fostering

Maybe you can assign each family member a litter box to take care of? 17yo and hubby alternate looking after the 4 "big cat" litter trays, and the 7 yo helps you with the kitten ones?

Well out of th efour cats-Ox doesn't use them-he stands by the door or comes and finds me to be let out (he taught himself!!) Bakker uses and Grizzly/Bobber in the winter otherwise those two also use the great outdoors! So its pretty nice I can go 2-3 days (depending on weather) I call the litterbox area in the basement my manure pit!!

Oh, that sounds so reasonable. But DH does all the barn chores, so he has his own level of manure to deal with! LOL! The 10 y/o does all the feeding, and the 7 y/o waters the animals. But that is easy, because the bowls are in the kitchen and laundry room, so I notice if they get empty. (Plus Festie gets very LOUD when they run out of food.) Then the kids don't get their meal until the animals are cared for! LOL! The 10 y/o helps with scooping sometimes, and the 17 y/o is the muscle to dump the big containers outside when they get putrid!

Mostly it is a matter of me keeping up with monitoring everything. I'm kinda ADHD, and don't have good routines. I mean I generally scoop every morning, but I don't good plans for when I get out of the routine. And I don't have set chores for the kids, just let them know when it is time to do something.

No more poops on the floor tonight, and dh refilled all the litterboxes today. (He helps with housecats in a pinch!)

Wow, everyone certainly does already have their chores! Sounds as though everyone pitches in which is great to see!!
