I am sorry, just seems like the special folks in our life should stay there for ever, this getting older and passing on stuff is lousy.

I am sorry about your dad...I still remember my dads birthday every year, though he passed a few years ago.

Thank you everyone. I wanted to share one more memory...my grandmother and grandfather were dairy farmers in Upstate NY. I spent many weekends and most Summers there until I went to college.

When I was still rather young, my gram would take the time to show me all the new litters of kittens - some up in the hay mow, some down in the lower barn area..and let me name each one. I had the habit of using food names such as butterscotch for all cream/red kittens

She would also help me make johnny cake for the farms oldest dog, Ladd...she was kind, patient, and a very fun grandmother.

Pat it sounds like you had the most wonderful heartfelt bond with your Grandmother and that will continue to live on

Your memories shine of amazing times and I'm sure she'll be watching over you and guiding you to make delicious apple pies!

I, too, know the pain of losing such a close Grandmother, but I can assure you that each and every day I feel her holding me close - as you will

I am sorry for your loss.

I felt the same way about my grandmother. She was an amazing woman with grace and strength that I aspire to have.

Your grandmother and mine shall bake apple pies in heaven together. I'll bet they'll have a fresh one ready for us when it is our time to join them.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you, and your family.

My condolences, Pat. It's difficult when all you're left with are memories, no matter how fond they are, and extremely hard when you're so far away that you can't participate in the usual leave-taking rituals.
