Dixiedarlin's post got me to thinking. (I hope your haircolor turns out great by the way!!
) I have dark red hair, and I've been thinking about highlights or something for the past six months or so. Problem is, I don't have any clue as to how it would look with my hair color or what color highlights to get! I don't know anyone with my hair color, and I've never seen anyone with naturally red hair and highlights! I've never died my hair or had anything else done to it in that since, so I'm kinda scared to! How much trouble are highlights to maintain and do you think highlights would look good or bad in my hair? I'm totally at a loss with all this stuff! Maybe some of you can help me out! Here's one pic of my haircolor...

Thanks!

Hunny, I think your hair colour is breathtaking, and I wouldn't change a thing..You are lucky to be blessed with lovely hair...Don't ruin it with chemicals

I know what you mean. Everytime I get my hair cut, I want to colour it, but every hairstylist tells me not to..

Your hair is perfect! Why change it. I would love to have it. I want to dye my hair red but I'm to scared at how horrible it might look!

Maybe some blond highlights. I have a friend who has your color red with blonde highlights. I think thats pretty cool looking.

Yeah my hairstylist wasn't too happy with me when I told him I wanted to do this

I've only tried to color one other time. I have natural blonde highlights in it but I've always wanted a copper red like I had when I was younger.
I would ask your stylist (if you have one) or maybe go to a beauty supply store and ask thier opinion

I posted this in my thread but here's what my hair looks like naturally

Btw I think it's a trip that we have the same furbrats, and hair

No Vacancy...One on the way!
Fall is a great time to mix with rich browns and auburns. Going darker red and then picking it up with some light browns would look amazing. but i am sure no matter what you choose it will look great!

I am going through a hair crisis too.
I have dark brown long long hair that is to damn heavy to leave down. even with layers it is still heavy.

So i am going in tomorrow and getting a consultation on my hair. I might just lighten it a tad and throw some wild platinum highlights. make me look all crazy. ehh why not, im sick of my boring look.

anywho...
good luck!

I think lowlights AND highlights (darker and lighter than your hair) would look great, as EricaNicole suggested, but in REDS. You could match your natural color, just go darker and lighter, if you want to be conservative. OR, use reds in different hues (add one red that's on the orange side, and one red that's on the blue side) for a more fun look! You can choose narrow or wide streaks, too, either would give a very different look.

You'd still have your natural color in there, which is so beautiful, but with added spice since you want a change. It'll grow out easily, too, if done well.

Cheers, from
SwampWitch

Mine are very subtle (and the red in my hair is darker thank yours) but I have more brownish larger streaks and then a close red shade for smaller streaks

this is probably the best pic of it but it barely shows them - you can see the red colour at the top though

and this is the natural red (and frizzy before styling
) It has been cut since but is that long again - I need a hair cut bad!

You have beautiful hair icklemiss!! Mine was almost that long before I went and got it all chopped off this summer. Now I miss it!! I think the shorter cut suits my face better, but I LOVED having long hair!!

Thank you all for your advice! If I decide to go ahead with it I'll let you guys know and post pics. I get nervous just thinking about it!!

My cousin had beautiful red hair like yours, she went and ruined it by dying it black, i dont know why but when it grew back her hair was lighter and my grandmother was so mad at her!
