I'm dying my hair!
Actually, I'm bleaching it
For a few days I will be blonde!

Then I'm going to dye it a lighter copper red. I've never done this before. My hair is naturally red.... This is my hair now

But I want it this color

I'm using Loreal Intense Red Copper Level 6 that I bought at Sally's Beauty Supply today...
I'm going to wait a few days inbetween so it doesn't stress my hair TOO much.
I've never done this before so I'm a little nervous about how it will turn out.
Keep your
that I don't end up with pink hair

Any tips are welcome!

That is going to look great because it is SO CLOSE to your natural color anyway! Please DON'T bleach your hair first, though, the color you bought has lighteners in it. (You are going to need two packages for that long hair.)

For four years I taught hair stylists about color at trade shows... I was the color specialist of our "hair team". Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Oops!
I am bleaching it as we speak. My stylist of 5 years recommended I bleach it first because my hair is so thick and it doesn't hold color. The last time I tried this was about 4 yrs ago and I did it with just the red and it literally washed out the next day

I haven't tried it since. The lady at Sally's said that the Mega Reds don't have a lightener in them

Now I'm all worried

PS... This stuff BURNS!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm curious if you used a developer (sold separately) with the color the first time. The developer lightens the hair, thus opening the cuticle, and the color can "grab" and go in.

Anyway, let me know if need advice. I love talking about color!

A tip from my mother: Don't forget to vaseline around the hairline before you dye!!
She was a natural redhead, but has since went mostly grey so dies hers back to her natural color. Once she forgot to "lube" her forhead and ended up with a very nice brown ring around her hair!!

Good luck, I'm sure it will turn out great, and I can't wait to see pics of the after!!

Ok, well the bleaching is done! and......................

Thank god I'm doing it red in a couple days!

I have some dark spots I'm not happy with at all. I know for a fact I saturated my whole head
I can either do it again
OR just go with the red and maybe it won't be noticable???

You look totally different with Bleached hair! I dont think a couple of darker spots would make any difference. As long as it isnt to dark.

When I walked out of the bathroom Deacon (4½) says "MOM! YOU ROCK!"

And of course DH says "WOW, that's kinda cool"

I told him "You just like it because now you can be with another woman and not get in trouble"

I emailed my dad a pic of it and called mom. I told her to have dad open his email. All I hear in the background is "WHAT DID YOU DO?!!"

My dad has been a fanatic about my hair since I was little. He wouldn't let my mom cut it until I was 6 and when I was a teenager her would get so
If I even used the temp color hairspray.. He's not a happy camper with me right now
But I assured him I was dying it red so he wouldn't get too upset.

Here's a more recent pic of what it looks like naturally
