I'm gonna be brave!

I'm dying my hair!
Actually, I'm bleaching it For a few days I will be blonde!
Then I'm going to dye it a lighter copper red. I've never done this before. My hair is naturally red.... This is my hair now

But I want it this color

I'm using Loreal Intense Red Copper Level 6 that I bought at Sally's Beauty Supply today...
I'm going to wait a few days inbetween so it doesn't stress my hair TOO much.
I've never done this before so I'm a little nervous about how it will turn out.
Keep your that I don't end up with pink hair

Any tips are welcome!

Both are beautiful colors!! I like the second one, very deep and mysterious!!

That is going to look great because it is SO CLOSE to your natural color anyway! Please DON'T bleach your hair first, though, the color you bought has lighteners in it. (You are going to need two packages for that long hair.)

For four years I taught hair stylists about color at trade shows... I was the color specialist of our "hair team". Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Oops!
I am bleaching it as we speak. My stylist of 5 years recommended I bleach it first because my hair is so thick and it doesn't hold color. The last time I tried this was about 4 yrs ago and I did it with just the red and it literally washed out the next day
I haven't tried it since. The lady at Sally's said that the Mega Reds don't have a lightener in them
Now I'm all worried

PS... This stuff BURNS!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't worry, I'm sure it will be fine! I used to brighten my auburn hair with henna and it was a lot of fun to be a firey redhead!

I'm curious if you used a developer (sold separately) with the color the first time. The developer lightens the hair, thus opening the cuticle, and the color can "grab" and go in.

Anyway, let me know if need advice. I love talking about color!

Are you sure you need to bleach it? I am naturally blond but I do mine red have worn it red for ( ~~~) years 40 that is, also I am an x hair dresser long time the X so I wouldn't want to try and say much, did they tell you at the beauty supply to bleach it?
I use the Ultress but I like mine a darker Red, why is it were never satisified

A tip from my mother: Don't forget to vaseline around the hairline before you dye!! She was a natural redhead, but has since went mostly grey so dies hers back to her natural color. Once she forgot to "lube" her forhead and ended up with a very nice brown ring around her hair!!

Good luck, I'm sure it will turn out great, and I can't wait to see pics of the after!!

Ok, well the bleaching is done! and......................

Thank god I'm doing it red in a couple days!

I have some dark spots I'm not happy with at all. I know for a fact I saturated my whole head I can either do it again OR just go with the red and maybe it won't be noticable???
Wow I hope that turns out well. I would love to be brave enough to dye my hair.
You look totally different with Bleached hair! I dont think a couple of darker spots would make any difference. As long as it isnt to dark.

When I walked out of the bathroom Deacon (4½) says "MOM! YOU ROCK!"
And of course DH says "WOW, that's kinda cool"
I told him "You just like it because now you can be with another woman and not get in trouble"
I emailed my dad a pic of it and called mom. I told her to have dad open his email. All I hear in the background is "WHAT DID YOU DO?!!"
My dad has been a fanatic about my hair since I was little. He wouldn't let my mom cut it until I was 6 and when I was a teenager her would get so If I even used the temp color hairspray.. He's not a happy camper with me right now But I assured him I was dying it red so he wouldn't get too upset.
Here's a more recent pic of what it looks like naturally

Well that second one kinda looks like mine,But my hair is short, it's Loreal Feria Power reds, it's called Ruby Rush All the years I have been dying mine red no wonder my brain is warped I have no idea what the glow is around my head, probably stupidity trying to get out It may look a little darker in the picture, I am not a picture taker, I had one of the desk and one of the door at first

Your OWN color was so beautiful! I would have just used a shampoo for redheads. You look great as a blond too - VERY natural!
Youre nuts!
Back in 2003 i bleached my hair and it turned out orange! omg now when i look back it was soo funny! but i didnt go out of the house for two whole days! i got my mother to go to the store and buy red dye.
Be very careful with bleach, the bleach ruined my hair and after 3 years its finally coming back to normal.
Anyway after i dyed it red, it washed out about a week later... it turned out a weird copper colour, but my head was so messed up because i just wanted blonde streaks but i ended up rubbing so much bleach on my head that there was still patches of dark brown, i then recoloured it but a Cherry red i so have to get a picture to post.

Your braver than I am! One time I went for hilights. Mom gave them to me. As she is rinsing my hair, she starts saying OH MY GOD. NOW DON"T ME MAD AT ME!!! It really didn't turn out that bad!

Good luck! I can't wait to see how it turns out!

I get my hair highlighted professionally every 3 months - I tried coloring it by myself, and it didnt turn out - I leave it to the pros!

That's what I'm afraid of! That I might have the "Almigty Johnathon" fix it for me
(John's my stylist)
