I have a 2 1/2 year old shorthair american bobtail. She is pregnant... (second time), but she has an eye that is giving off a greyish thick discharge, very wet... She is very cuddely (obviously due to her pregnancy) but when I try to wipe her eye clean she gets mean...

What can I do? Does anybody know what this is?

Thanks

I think you need to take her to a vet. She may have an upper respiratory infection or something worse. You don't want to fool around with the eyes. One of our member's cat lost their eye because a viral infection wasn't caught in time. Please take her to a vet.

I'm thinking if she doesn't let you touch that area something is going on with it. i would also check with the vet. BTW I would like to see a pic of you cat as I have an American Bobtail too!!
Good luck.

She may have conjunctivitis, a bacterial infection of the eye, which must be treated with antibiotics.
If it is viral, that is another issue.
She must see a vet asap.

Let us know what you find out.
