Abby does that when she has fallen asleep in the living room when I'm in there, but she doesn't do it when I'm in the bedroom and she's fallen asleep. I've come to realize that the reason she does it in the living room is because I was there when she fell asleep and when she wakes up she wants to make sure I'm still there and didn't leave her. If by chance I've managed to slip off to bed without her hearing me (rare), when she does wake up she meows frantically calling for me and after I call her a few times she runs into the bedroom and leaps up onto the bed and curls up next to me.

Sweety would wake up or even sometimes still be sleeping, crying loudly, I am sure it was a bad dream..........especially when she would wake up crying and only seem better when we would talk to her and let her know everything is ok..............On occassion I would have to wake her up while she was crying, sure she was having a bad dream, and her desperate cry would change to a greeting ,thankyou cry. Miss you Sweety!

heyu talks all the time
almost to much
but hmm normaly if she is in the computer room and in her cat bed. she lets out hmm almost like chirp sounds then gets on may lap for a few min.

if she is in the TV room she will let out the stress cry that one type of meow that makes you go check to make sure they are not hurt and runs stright to the computer room looking for me. From what the wife says she will do this for several min how searching the house if i am not home.

Gizmo will stretch and make soft 'talking' sounds when she wakes up. If I wake her up, she uses a rising inflection on the miaow which sounds exactly like 'ehhhh?'
I love the sounds she makes when she's waking up.

Yep they are the cutest sounds ever!! I guess it must be to make sure I'm still around or something because right when she wakes up, she runs over and jumps on my lap.

Puppy does the same thing. When he wakes in the night, he'll meow at us until we reach over and pat his head. Apparently he just wants to make sure we're still alive.

I once left Gizmo sleeping in this kitty cup-palace pictured below since she looked too cute to wake up. The palace was, at the time, in my studio.
So I left the door open and went to bed. Normally I'd take the cat with me but not this time.

At one A.M. I heard a 'loud WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

I woke, puzzled, thinking "I don't have a baby...whose baby is crying?"
Then I realized who it was and called "Gizmo! Gizmo!"
A furry streak shot into the bed and started purring and kissing me.
Poor baby had a nightmare or more likely, woke up in an unfamiliar place.

Lucy does the same thing sometimes - it almost seems like she's waking up from a bad dream and wants to re-connect with her humans!

When she was younger she would occasionally wake up hissing and spitting and completely freaked out - don't try to tell me cats don't dream!!
