John, I know exactly what you mean! This is little Saba - she has all the characteristics of a Maine Coon, right down to the tufts between her paws, quiet nature, and sweet disposition - but she's only 4.5 lbs. She was a rescue, and apparently survived her very first winter in the wild here...made it through coyotes, cougars, bears and snow.... she's very special.... I'll never know for sure, but your adorable kitten is so very similar. I'm sure you're right!
LOL! You'd be surprised by how many breeds have 'love of water' as a requisite characteristic!Originally Posted by JohnTS71
well from ready the charactistics I would say he is part maine coon. the thing i read about loving water is so true with him...he puts his paws in the water and sometimes knocks it over lol
I don't know about other breeds with the tufts in the toes and ears, but ragdolls do as well, my "small" (she was spayed by her breeder because she was a little small, and had problems with delivering she weighs about 14 pounds) spayed female has big hairy feet I wish I had a good camera so I can get a good pic of it, but all you with the MC know what it looks likeOriginally Posted by ProudKittieMom
Awe everyones kitties are soo gorgeous
question everyone is talking about the main cones and the hair in between their paw pads and tufts? am I right lol but anyways I am sorry to get off topic but my Stormie has that and she is a long haired manx well half, and all we knew was that the mother was long haired and I just dont know is there many breeds with this hair in the paws and such??? any help would be well appreciated I noticed it the other day and I was wondering lol
The tufts of hair between the paws is caused by the cat being a longhair. Short-haired cats have the tufts between their toes too, theirs are just shorter. In a longhaired cat, ALL the hairs on its body grow longer, so the hairs on the bottom of the paws go along for the ride.Originally Posted by ProudKittieMom
