I have two quick questions.

1. What are the symptoms of feline diabetes? My youngest, Twinkie, is drinking ALOT of water and peeing frequently. He had minor surgery recently (neuter) and seems to be healing slowly, as well.

I would assume that the vet checked him for this, because they did bloodwork before the surgery, but not sure.

2. I have been having alot of problems with my allergies and sinus infections followed by bronchitis. My doctor told me that he thinks I am allergic to cats and said if we establish that I am, then I would need to get rid of them.
He said it's as bad as someone smoking with lung problems.

Have any of you had this problem and if so, how do you deal with the allergies without losing your pets?

Thanks a million!

Um, ok, drinking alot is a sign of diabetes, but it's also a sign of spay/neuter....they get cotton mouth....I would think your vet would be able to tell if he was diabetic from his bloodwork.

There are TONS of people that have allergies & have cats, and there are tons of things you can do. I have heard, bathe your cats weekly, this cuts down on dander & excess fur (or have your hubby/bf do it). Keep your carpets vacuumed daily. Get a vacuum with a Hepa filter....it's helpful with allergies. Also, there is medicine that you can take for allergies. This will help your symptoms. And I think regular things like handwashing, not touching your eyes with your hands after you've pet them, maybe not rubbing faces with your kitties, are all things that will reduce your facial contact would help too. Here is a link that will help you. Good luck!
