I've been carring for the Crickey kitten for almost 2 weeks now and am having trouble switching him to regular kitten food wet or dry. He had not had food before I took him in and was just nursing from mom. At first I was bottle feeding him and then after a few days, got him to start lapping from a shallow dish. Then I tried slowly adding a little food to the formula but every time I do that, he gets diahrrea. Anyone had this experience? And how do I go about switching his food? Now I've been using a recipe I found on a site where holistic vets answer questions. You boil to death 1/2 cup rice in 5 cups of water until it is a soupy mush. I also added 2 small jars of chicken baby food. He does ok on this but gets hungry fast. Then everytime I add a little canned food, he gets the runs again.

Have you tried different brands of food? Or just adding a tiny tiny bit at a time? Maybe he has some kind of allergies to the ingredients....wouldn't that be fun to boil rice for him for the next 20 years?!? I wonder if baby rice cereal would be the same, and easier on you!

That's what I was doing was adding a little food into formula at a time. But things are much better now. Before he wouldn't eat dry food even if in formula. But last night I decided to try again and it worked and he's got nice little, formed poo's again!
