I'm new this this site, I started to post and read because my cat had kittens and I had many questions. Well, on top of my baby having 5 babies of her own and having my male cat also, there is a stray that has been hanging out in my yard. (we live in a trailer park)
My male is Tuxedo cat (large in standards of cats in my eyes) his name is Trouble. He is out side with me all summer and roams the little yard we have, he does not roam far anymore as he is getting old, he is about 16. Well this stray has been around all summer but I though it was just a neighbors cat roam like my Trouble. I leave the door open so Trouble can come and go as he pleases, and at night watch for him to come in so I can close the door. Several times this summer this stay has poped into the door sat there a minute, as I got up to close the door thinking its Trouble and taking off. Its a Tuxedo to but smaller then my meowson. Once again I thought nothing of it.
The past two weeks as the weather is getting colder its been hangin at the door 24/7. Meowing and meowing to come in. Its got to be someones cat, its front paws are declawed. I put a sign up at the locale pet store. The park takes every sign down that I put up. ITs obviously been lost a while now that I look back at the summer. And I do remember seeing signs up at one time for this cat but its seems like ages ago.

What should I do, I don't want to take it to a shelter, because I would have nightmares of them authonizing it. I've contacted a local cat rescue but have not heard back from them.

I would take him in, but Rhapsody my Queen is furious about this cat hangin in the yard. And of course my husband has a big heart too and as much as I fought it thinking if we don't feed it it will find home, DH started to feed it this week.

Any advice.

Just because a cat is declawed does not mean it has an owner...nor does it mean that it has been fixed. Normally I would recommend taking the cat in and trying to find the owner yourself..but since you have an intact female that is nursing kittens, I would take him to your shelter. The shelter has to hold him for a period of time so his owners have a chance to reclaim him. I realize that the shelter is not an ideal place, but neither is having him be outside wanting companionship. I would also be concerned that he could get to your female and get her pregnant again. Could you take him to the shelter and in the meantime see if anyone that you know would be willing to adopt him??

I have asked the near by neighbors and of all my friends and family members. I am going to go the pet store that the rescue club is this Saturday and see what they say also. In the mean time my husband did make a cat house for it.
It won't let me exaime it to see if its male or female.

Hopefully you can find someone who wants this cat. I would honestly borrow a humane trap and trap this cat to be seen by a vet.

Bless you for looking out for the poor kitty. The local politics in a trailer park can be so frustrating
Do you recall where you had seen the sign?? Maybe you could put up a sign at the supermarket that says "I might have found your cat!" Just don't describe the cat, so that bad people don't lie and claim to be the owners - make them tell YOU what cat they are seeking. It sounds like you must be in an area without many resources for lost/stray pets, except those kind people like you who take the job of stewardship of God's creatures very seriously
I will check for updates on your situation, and meantime, am sending TCS {{{{prayers and vibes}}}} that the cat find a good, inside home very soon! Susan
