It seems like there are quite a few members who ride motorcycles and I was just wondering if you have ever heard of or attended Bikes, Blues and BBQ in Fayetteville, Arkansas. As of last year, it was the 3rd largest bike rally in the USA after Sturgis and something in Florida (I think). Anyway, its happening this weekend. We've been every year despite the fact that we don't own a motorcycle and the thought of riding one frightens me. We plan on taking the girls during the day tomorrow (DH has a vacation day) to look at all the pretty bikes.

On a more serious note, we have already had at least two major motorcycle accidents in the area since the rally started yesterday. If you will, send vibes that all of the bikers can make it home safely.

I will ALWAYS pray that those who ride keep the shiny side up and the rubber side down!

I've never been to your state, but there are similar biker rallies all over the US. I'm hoping to attend as many as possible someday when I retire (if I ever get the opportunity to retire, lol...)

Myrtle Beach is generally the 3rd largest rally after Daytona Bike Week, Laughlin, NV has a very big one, and then of course there is Laconia Bike Week in NH, the US's oldest and longest running rally.

I've heard of the one you are talking about as I subscribe to a couple of Biker magazines, and there are always LOTS of pictures (usually of topless ladies, something I personally never have done nor would ever do.)

I hope you and your family have a really good time being what we up here call: curbside commandos!

Have a great time

I have a Harley and love it too bits. All shiny......... Anyway, drifted off there for a while
, we have loads of rallies in the Uk. I guess the Rock'n'Blues may be the biggest of the year. Unfortunately we have only managed our own club rally this year due to work commitments mainly (hubby
) works shifts.

Not been to any in the states or anywhere else in Europe, one day maybe

Ride safe everyone

Bikes, Blues and BBQ, hhmmm, that sounds like fun.
The thing in Florida is the Daytona Beach Rally. I think it is the biggest, or it used to be. It has been going on for years. We stopped going to those things when every nitwit in the world started clogging up the roads with all those silly looking choppers. We even sold the old Harley and bought a Goldwing. We still love to ride, it just used to be more fun when it wasn't so fashionable and soooo crowded.

Buying my Harley was the best thing I EVER did for myself as an adult.

Got PMS? Go for a 50 mile ride on the bike. Instant cure!

I do highly recommend that anyone looking to get their own bike should take the Rider Safety Course FIRST. I took it twice, and have since taken the experienced rider course, and I can't even tell you how many times the skills and knowledge I picked up in those courses has literally saved my life.

Ride like the wind, ladies!!!

Well, we went to the the rally this afternoon and the whole family is exhausted. It has grown so big, they have taken over the University of Arkansas' baseball team's parking lots and run shuttles. They have vendors set up there too.

At the stadium parking lot:

Inside the baseball stadium (they were having an open practice):

So instead of taking the shuttle, my husband figures since its only 2:30 or so we will be able to park near Dickson St. (the site of the main rally). We found street parking 2 miles away and push strollers up a huge hill. If we'd had a motorcycle, we could have actually parked on Dickson St. or one of the side streets.
You can't really tell how crowded it was, but there were thousands of bike along the side of the street and I have never seen so many people in black leather in my life!

Dickson Street:

I've never heard of Billy's Place and neither had my husband. We lived in Fayetteville for over 15 years combined. Maybe Pete's Place at the bowling alley? Ask him if he remembers anything else about Fayetteville. Its a small town, but a really cool place...
