I noticed that Ox has not been eating dry food just the wet. Last night I gave him (probably to much) more wet food. I though I heard something last night -well he had diarrhea lets just say in several rooms. I found him hiding in the family room. I cleaned up all the places (took over 1/2 hr) and he is sleeping in he garage-he spends lots of time in the garage so this isn't a bad thing. I tried to give him some wet dilted with water -he didn't eat but just a while ago I saw him drimking some water. This isn't of course the 1st time he has done this-last time was end of Jan/Feb which I switched foods and he had lost a tooth at that time-I will see if he lets me check his mouth. He also did this last Sept too.
So I will pick up a chix breast and boil it for him to see if he eats that.
Any suggestions for a food to try him on (other than the wet) which he will eat?? He was eating Chicken Soup for the Cat Lovers Soul, before that Felidae and before that Nutro Max.
Thanks

When I brought Persi home at age seven weeks, my wife and I decided to give him NOTHING but Science Diet dry food EVER. We feel so fortunate that he actually took right to this food and since he does not know any other food, he does not complain. I guess an analogy would be that if I never had anything but hamburger and then started getting a steak now and then I would hold out for the steak. We expected somewhat of a standoff when we got him home cause his breeder had weaned him on wet food but we got lucky, I guess.

Last time he stopped eating he broke a fang. He doesn't like mouth pried open but I checked and sure enough one of his top fangs is partially broken off!!
He did have some water and eat some dry food-I had a sample bag of his regular stuff-I let him outside for a few minutes and he is back in eating dry food-now I have to call vet to see what needs to be done about tooth.

Ouch. Well that certainly explains his reluctance to eat. I hope he is able to get his tooth/teeth fixed - I know it's so much more complicated when they are seniors.

oh Gail, I'm SO glad it's a reasonable explanation!
I hope the tooth area settles down and he's in no pain!?

Actually I looked again last night and just the very tip of one of his canines is gone. This must have happened sometime in the last 2-3 weeks since his vet visit!! He had a good solid bm waiting for me in the living room floor this am!!!
Cleaned quickly before DH saw it. He seems back to his "old self" beggings, coming to me to let him go outside so he could eat some grass, etc...
I'll still watch him. Grizzly on the other hand had a couple of soft bm's on the basement floor.(grrrr)
