Can anyone help my friend? Here is a copy and paste of her email to me~

we got a new kitty and he's about 5 months old.....he was bottle feed by the woman who rescued him because his mother was killed by a dog.....anyways, he kneads CONSTANTLY...and I know, all cats knead, BUT his is obsessive, and while it doesn't really bother us here's the probelm, he's driving the other kitty nuts because he keeps trying to knead on him and i looks like trying to nurse on him as well....is it becasue he was bottle fed? Will he grow out of it....is there somethign we can do???? It;s weird.

This suckling behaviour is common with kittens separated from mom to early, or from runts in a litter being pushed away by stronger siblings. It is a security for the kitten to knead like this, and about the only thing your friend can do is to substitute a small stuffed animal for the kitten to suckle on. When the kitty is starting on his brothers and or sisters, gently pick the kitten up and put him by himself with the stuffie right in front of him to see if he will just transfer the behaviour over. It is more of an insecurity behaviour and a way for the kitty to try and find comfort.
