One of my kittens, Satou, goes crazy whenever she smells her food being prepared. The minute I pop open the can, she gets really excited, runs around the condo like a maniac jumping on everything and racing around, meows on the top of her lungs repeatedly and insistently, and is very pushy and agressive to the other kitten who is the more passive one.

Satou is only about 10 weeks now and is diplaying some rather disturbing aggresive tendencies whenever there is food. I am worred that when she becomes an adult cat, her behaviour would worsen or be more severe since she is bigger.

Is this type of behaviour normal? My other kitten is completely passive and never exhibits any sort of aggresion. How do I train Satou to be less aggresive when food is present?

My two littermate kittens were the same way when they heard the cans open. One was a crazy, aggressive kitty and one was just sort of there. The one who used to be aggressive is now the passive one. The kitten who was smaller and quiet before always has his face in the food dish now. They're about 4 months old now.

Food is just such a new experience at this point that she is just getting really excited. I've had kittens that when they get older, they actually growl over the food and push away the other cat with their paw. But these cats were usually buddies every other time. As the novelty of the food wears off so will the strange behaviors.
