WOOHOO! I'm employed!

I mentioned last week in a different post that I had an interview this week.

I had my job interview yesterday... then my volunteer interview today... got home and got the call from the retail place. I've been offered one of the positions and will train tomorrow. WOOHOO!!!

I'm finally employed!!

Granted it's not a library job, but it's SOMEthing.

I was mostly unemployed back in Chicago for the better part of two years (out of the three that I lived there). I got to Portland in June and was immediately hunting... heck, I was sending out resumes before getting here. I'm still going to search for library work... then just cut back the store hours (40% discount? hello?)... but this is a start. It only pays $7.50/hour, which sucks big time. I want at least $10/hour, but it'll do for now. I'll get a nice library gig and that'll pay nicely. They usually do.

I'll be down there tonight for training. Don't know abaout tomorrow. I do need some time to pack stuff for the trip. But that won't take terribly long. Then I'm off to Reno and the SF/Bay Area starting Friday... back on the 9th. My friend is feeding the cats, and my neighbor will water the plants. She has cancer and has some nasty bad days. I wouldn't mind her caring for the cats, she has one, but i can't guarantee she'll be well enough to be down here every day. So my friend will be coming by.

Congrats on the job. Don't worry I am in a job that's not what I trained for (Archives) I'm sure you'll get somthing in you field eventually. I hope I do too *smile*
