My grandmas husky shepard mix has been suffering from dry irrated skin around his eye. its a bit swollen and pink. the rest of the eye looks ok and he doesnt have anything like that anywhere else. BUT every now and then I notice Chico (thats his name) will have the same thing around the lower part of his mouth. I think he has been given steroids in the past since they though it was allergies.
He does not have fleas and is very well maintained.

anyone know anything about this?
anything i can do to help him out?

Sounds like he needs a trip to the vet. He may be really suffering the poor guy...

I would question the vet about allergies or if this could be due to contact with something in the house/yard, etc..

Also, most allergies are a result of food. What food is he on?

Grandma takes him yearly to get his flea meds and a check up. winter is coming and they do not travel to the vet (its about 2 hours away, they use the vet near their summer home).

I told my grandpa today to stop feeding chico scraps and to keep him on a regualr food brand. I believe they have Purina at the moment.
I suggested a higher quality food but they eat like cows and they go through so much.
