Chase had been ill for almost a week. I took him to the vet on Monday, and they gave me some pills to make his infection go away so he would feel better. I came home lastnight to a very, very sick kitty...so we went to the kitty doctor. (Chase liked the Kitty Dr.) He told us Chase was very, very ill...more so than what we though. He needed to start him on an IV, and keep him overnight and run a plethora of tests. Poor Chase couldn't stand up, but he could still purr like a lawnmower.
The vet called me this morning, and gave me the news. Chase had liver disease, kidney disease, heart disease, severe jaundice, dehydration, low temp (needing heating pads) His body was just shutting down, ready to rest at any minute. We had more tests done, and it was concluded, that my indoor only kitty, of 8 years had FIV. He then died just after 4 this afternoon.
He represented a time in my life when I needed someone. So I adopted him. I was alone, too young to be by myself, and he was the only living being that loved me unconditionally...and I loved him back. I am going to miss him meeting me at the door every day, crushing me at night when we slept, and stepping all over me when we watched TV. I am going to miss him soo much. It hurts.....bad...

I'm so sorry. I had this happen to our special Simba so I know how it hurts. My heart goes out to you. I hope you will know that Chase is now in a place where he won't hurt anymore. As you probably know from reading some of the threads here that cats will also purr when in pain so I think you've done the best thing for sweet Chase.

When your heart is ready, hopefully you will give another special kitty a place in your life and a forever home. Sounds to me like any kitty would be lucky to have you in their life.

Hugs from me to you.

It is never easy to lose, a pet like that.
sounds very much like a kitty i had when i was younger she was all i had.
I always think at these times it is not forever, just until we meet again.

Oh, how terribly sad! What a crushing loss!

While I am very sorry for your loss of Chase way too young, just know that by you taking him in, it allowed him to live that time with you. Many shelters and rescues still euthanize kittens who test positive. By living with you, getting lots of loving care, you gave him the best chance for a happy life.

I am truly sorry for your loss.
Rest in peace, Chase.

This has brought tears to my eyes - my heart goes out to you as you grieve your loss.
I wish I could make you feel better!!

You did everything you could, but it was his time. I know that he had a wonderful home with you for 8 years, which is a lot more than so many dear little kitties ever get to have.

Rest in peace, dear Chase.

Condolences on your sad loss of Chase. You did so very much for him, and your love for him lit the way over Rainbow Bridge. The love that you two shared will never die, and someday, it will light the way for you to go find your beloved Chase again, and you will be together again, forever.

Matt, I am so sorry for your loss of Chase
. It sounds like he was in horrible pain, but rest assured he is pain-free now, even though yours still lingers. RIP at the Bridge Chase
. Matt, may you find comfort one day in knowing that he is free, happy, and forever healthy.
