The first one is out and mama is cleaning the baby up.

LOL you should see my husband...he's laying beside her petting her and talking to her in a soothing voice. He's her human. haha it's so funny to see though.

We have a second kitten. Mama seems to be doing fine so far. and the first kitten looks really small, but it's already pushing it's self up to feed, so I think that's a good sign!

She should chew the cord pretty much right after the sac is removed

She got the first one, but the second one has been disconnected from Mittens but there is a long string trailing from the baby....not sure if that's ok or not?

Wow, I leave for 10 minutes and I go back and she's now delivered 4 kittens so far. 3 white and 1 solid black.

um, I'm not sure. Like she's severed the cord from herself, but the part still connected to the baby is quite long still.

when I last got a good look it was probably 2 inches. Definately longer than one inch anyways.

I found this info

Care of the umbilical cord

The umbilical cord must be allowed to dry up and drop off naturally, and under no circumstances should it be removed. However, if the cord is very long it can become wound round a limb, cutting off the circulation: one kitten lost a paw this way. A kitten may also step on a very long cord, causing a hernia or even opening the stomach at the navel, which would be fatal. DO NOT try to cut a long cord yourself: leave it to the vet. If you notice bleeding in the navel area, seek veterinary advice IMMEDIATELY: if there is a delay before you can get to the surgery, as an emergency measure soak a cotton wool ball in boiled salt water, squeeze it almost dry and hold it GENTLY over the navel until the bleeding stops. Do NOT rub or wash the area, and see the vet as soon as possible.

I think she's trying to eat more off, but she's still in labor. She's delivering a fifth kitten.
