I have two kittens a little over 4 months old. At night when I go to bed the kittens have to be locked up in the bathroom, otherwise I wont get any sleep cause they stay by the bedroom door and cry and never stop. So we put them in our 2nd bathroom with one of our older adult cats. They are happy in there together but i have one problem. They destroy that bathroom every night!

I just walked in there now and there was toliet paper all over the place, litter all over the place, and they knocked my boyfriends pants into the toliet.

I know i can just take the toliet paper out of the room when i put them in, and make sure my bf leaves the seat down.
But is there anyway to make them neater with the litter boxes?

We have two boxes in there and both are covered, but they still get litter in the sink? dont know how they manage that cause the boxes are on the floor. When i went to clean the bathroom the other day I noticed there was litter and poop smear on the bathroom door, ick! How in the world does that happen?

They use to boxes and dont have any accidents, they are just so messy.

Is there anything I can do?
Is everyone elses cats messy with the litter?

Sounds to me like they are tracking the litter on their paws, which is why you are finding it in the sink. Ferris seems to like to wash the litter off his paws by using the Drinkwell fountain - I'm always cleaning litter out of the water, LOL! He's 4 months old, too.

They might be stepping backwards into their poop when they are working at covering it up - I've seen little Ferris do the same thing. That would explain the poop smears.

I think it might just be something that they'll grow out of - cats get more fastidious as they get older. Kittens are just babies who don't keep themselves as clean yet.

You might try switching to a different litter that doesn't stick so well to their little feet.

you can also try getting one of the litter catching mats to put under the litterbox, we did that for our litterbox, works for one of our cats, but the other one thinks it's a game to jump all the way out of the box beyond the mat so he still tracks litter everywhere! oh well, at least the kittens probably won't do that.

in a pile of open toed shoes!
ok, 1st of all, I think alot of that might be because you have 3 cats trapped in 1 bathroom.
Now, you may not think it's trapped, but I'm sure they probably do....and they are just looking for mischief to get into
...as all kittens do!
I am only guessing this cause I was dog sitting for my parents pomeranian, and he is getting old, and I locked him in our normal size bathroom while I left the house so he wouldn't poop on the floor....and he did exactly what your cats did!!! (minus the pants in the toilet!) He even pooped, stepped in the poop, then proceeded to try to "climb" up every section of my pink wall with his poopy covered claws, leaving poo everywhere....ewwwwww.

Here's what I'd do:
Can they be confined to a larger area??? Like say a bedroom? That would be more adequate space for 3 cats. Also, alot of cats like to be awake part of the night...so they need "something" to do...put tons of toys in there, food & water, climbing stations, scratching posts....

Or, is there just 1 room that you don't want them in? Maybe you could just block off that area so they still an area to explore. Cats are hunters and explorers....they need to get into things. Try to kitty proof your house: put all breakable glass out of reach, tie up wires, lock away cleaning supplies etc....

Or, do they have to be confined at all??? Leave your bedroom door open, then they won't cry to get in.... Louie still occasionally comes to my side of the bed at 5am and lets out 2 little mews...I just pick him up cuddle him for a few minutes and he'll walk around the bed. He just needs a little reassurance to know that Meowmy and Daddy are still here in the big dark house.
It's a learning curve with all of them. You have to be patient (as annoying as it is getting woke up at 5am
)....eventually your babies will have it all figured out. I'm just afraid that they might rebel about being in the bathroom all night, and really create havoc when they are loose in the rest of the house. You may have to go through 1-2 wks of not enough sleep, but in the end everyone will be happy!

Another tip: LuckyGirl had her days/nights all messed up. She would be up all night, and sleep all day. I got info (from TCS & the vet) that each cat needs a MINIMUM of 30 minutes of hard core playtime each day. The important thing is you don't want to wind them up before bedtime, but maybe 2 hours before your gonna go to bed, play with them wildly....wear them out....then they still have an hour to get sleepy for bed. But don't let them sleep....keep them awake, and when it is time to go to bed they are out for the count!

Litter boxes: kittens need a learning curve.... get a litter matt, and I have the whole thing on a 3x4 carpet, then the litter matt, then the box on top of that....if you keep a dust buster close by you could quickly use that a few times a day. My 12 wk old little boy still makes a mess, but he's learning.

And then the obvious..... toilets are dangerous for kittens. If you have the blue water in there, they could drink it, they could drown, etc. Do not leave it open at all. And just putting the TP up high where they can't reach it etc.

Hope this helps!!! PM me if you have any ?'s!!!
