possible spasms or seizures

My 3 month old kitten Tiger has been showing signs of spasms. They started off in his sleep and I thought nothing of it (because its normal) until he spasmed so badly he woke himself up and nearly jumped off the couch in fright. He settled down into the same position and started the same thing, but hasn't to my knowledge spasmed as bad as that. Today I noticed that he was completely awake and lucid, looking at me, and playing with me when he started spasming again. He's been ill since we got him, on antibiotics and ointments since then, but just in the last week he has been having this problem.

I know that I should take him to the vet, but I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight as to what it might be, or if someone else has had issues like this, or if its completely normal and I'm just taking it out of proportion. I'd rather have you guys tell me its normal than paying $100 at the vet for him to tell me that.

If it were just in his sleep, I would think he was just dreaming. I would call the vet, since you've been in recently, and describe his symptoms. They'll be able to tell you what things it could be and which ones are likely.

Is it possible this is a reaction from the medications?

I suppose it could be. I would have thought it would have effected him before now if that was the case. I guess anything is possible. Poor boy has been through a rough life already. *sigh*
