That's too bad Heidi....there are bound to be a few setbacks from time to time but with the way you describe Ginger's personality I'm sure she'll be one of the gang in no time

It certainly sounds like it might have been a little too much stimulation for Ginger. But, on a positive note, she did feel the need to have a bit of 'me' time, so that's good!

Hopefully Trent didn't get too much of a fright!

Good luck with giving it another go tonight, I hope it goes well!

BAM!
Jumped out and SCREAMED like a banshee! I don't know who jumped further, me or Trent.
Ginger, of course, thinks this is a neat game. I just hope she doesn't decide to play at 3:00 in the morning or Meowmy and Daddy are going to hit the ceiling.
That is SOOOO funny!!!!
What a good girl you are Ginger!!!! Keep on being the submissive one, so you don't traumatize your new big brother & sister!!!

I have all my fingers crossed, and I hope everything goes well tonight. Many years ago, when we first introduced Snowball to the resident cat we had at that time, there were some problems. But eventually everything worked itself out and the two cats spent the next 10 years together.

Sorry to hear things didn't go as well as you hoped last night, Heidi. Sending lots of vibes for tonight. I can recall quite a few setbacks when I introduced Peter to the girls last year. He was six-months-old at the time and was all about playing. There were some tense moments, but in the end it all worked out.

Setbacks??? Oh, that is my kits middle names! Every time one was introduced, just when we'd think we'd made progress, they would get into a tussle..........hang in there Heidi........it WILL work out!

We're not getting discouraged about this. Like Earl said last night - if she had been here for a month, this would be discouraging. But she's only been here since Saturday and this was her first time out and about, with face to face contact.

The kitties will definitely have their ups and downs as they get used to each other, but it sounds like Ginger will melt their hearts (and vice-versa) and you'll have a loving kitty trio in no time!

Chip has been in my home since March, & Java's been there over a year, & Cable still feels the need to attack them at times. Trent will get used to her soon, i'm sure!

Morning update.

Ginger was out and about all night last night!
No catfights, only one little confrontation in the middle of the night (not sure what happened with that, but everyone was fine...)

Ginger and Trent are still working things out, but before we went to bed they would get about 3' from each other, stare down, and meow at each other. This morning it was down to about 2'.

Poor Ophelia is quite disturbed by little Ginger. Ophelia found a hiding spot in the bedroom last night, which Ginger happened upon. This resulted in constant growling for a good 10 minutes, even though Ginger had retreated under the bed, and growling whenever a breeze hit her for another 15-20 minutes after that.
Ophelia spent most of the night downstairs.
However, on a positive front, this morning when Ginger happened upon Ophelia's hiding spot, she didn't growl but waited until Ginger backed off a little and then slunk upstairs. Of course, that could be because all of the litterboxes are upstairs and Ophelia may have really had to GO.

I think Ginger is out and about for good.
And she was just sweet as could be when she saw that I was awake, giving lots of purrs and headbutts
and keeping me company in the bathroom while I got ready for work.

yep, mine were in rare form last night! Java, my timid girl, attacked Cable, whose paw was caught on the toy on the cat tree
[her soft paws are needing changing, i think, size-wise] then, after Cable left, Java started up with Chip!

Sounds like great progress to me!

Took MUCH longer in my house to get Emma the Grumpy Gus fully integrated with in-your-face Oliver!!!

Sounds like things are going great! I've had Ophelia for 8 months now, & she still tries to kill Lily everytime she see her! If you don't mind me asking, what is your screen door like? Maybe getting one of those so they could see each other without physical harm would help at my house.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that Ginger continues to integrate into the house well!
