New Kitten~ Other cat is mad!!

Here is my situation. We just a got a 7 week old kitten a few nights ago.

I was keping the kitten and my 2 year old cat away from each other. I decided to let Peaches (2 yr old) go into the room where the kitten is staying so she could smell her. We have been also letting the kitten out so she could explore our condo and get used to her new enviroment.

The kitten has no fear of Peaches. In fact, she seems to be wanting to play with her. Peacehs started off with the constant growling and hissing. She now pretty much is just growling. She seems to be very curious of the kitten, almost afraid of her. Imaging that. She will run up to the kitten, stop about a foot away from her and lay down and growl. She has only swatted at her a few times. I noticed if you move any thing around Peaches when she is in this mode, she will jump and run. When Peache's is in her growling mode though, she won't let me touch her. She will hiss and swat at me. Is that pretty normal? If she can't hear or see the kitten she is fine with me.

I am pretty confident they will be getting along soon. It has only been 4 days, and they seem to be getting better.

They'll be fine, though stay away from Peaches at those 'times'. Cats in an aggressive mode seem to lose sight of who's the friend and who's the enemy, and will attack whomever is nearest, though I doubt if she will actually hurt the kitten as much as just let her know who's boss, but don't leave them alone together yet either, as the size ratio if nothing else is just too great.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah i am pretty sure she wont hurt the kitten, I think she is trying to show her who is boss. I just was shocked she was acting this way towards me.
