The part about the girl being harrassed after trying to break up with her football-player-abuser really touched me - when I was in high school, the "jocks" would really "wale" on their girlfriends and it was so accepted and heaven help anyone who tried to stop the jocks from bullying (well, I did - but boy did I pay the price )But, that was back in 1974 - I AM SO GLAD that this issue is finally getting addressed. I think that is goes hand in hand with schools FINALLY beginning to deal appropriately with bullying. Great thread
Fantastic! I've given classes on teen dating violence in my previous jobs and it is every bit as serious as "adult" abusive relationships. Adult abusers start somewhere, right?
I'm glad that advocates and DV agencies are offering more and more proactive ways for teen abuse survivors to get help!!
Wonderful News!!!!! I'm sooo excited to hear about this!!! That is a service that definitely needs to be available to everyone! Especially young women! Many times they don't know how to identify the early signs of abuse (it always starts verbally..and over little things...before it progresses to more violent things imo) Hopefully, this tool will help educate young people about violent situations and provide them with a good resource to turn to should they find themselves in that position where they need to seek help! That is wonderful news!!! Thankyou for sharing! The key to avoiding abuse always starts with education!!!
