My new kitty Angel has quite the appetite. She is about 7 months old, dsh, average size for her age. I give her a full can of wet a day (half AM and half PM) plus I leave her a small full bowl of dry for her to nibble on. She finishes one bowl of that every day. Is this too much for her? She is a rescue so maybe she is nervous that if she doesnt eat enough it wont be there for her. When I feed her her breakfast (wet) she cries for it, until I put it down in front of her. She is healthy as well, no worms or anything. Any thoughts? Thanks.

The 1/2 can morning and evening sounds OK to me, but I'd be inclined to cut back on the amount of dry food. Dry food is more likely to cause your kitty to be overweight than the wet food. Have you asked the vet if she is overweight?

I didnt ask the vet because when I took her in, she was right off the street, and was underfed. She isnt overweight now, still a bit on the scrawny side. I will cut back on the dry food, even though it is "IAMS" weight control formula. Thanks.

If she is still a bit on the scrawny side, then letting her have as much as she will eat can't hurt IMO. In that case I would only cut back if she were gaining too much weight.

I agree. A lot of people believe that kittens should be allowed to free feed as much as they want, as long as they don't have weight issues.
