My friend received some horrible news....

My girlfriend Jessica has had a very hard couple of days. Her dad was just diagnosed with cancer, and they are trying to figure out what kind it is. It started with what he thought was a cyst inside his nose, he has had cysts before so he didn't think it was a big deal. Well, he put it off until it became harder for him to breathe through his nose, about 1 yr. When he went into have the drs do a cat scan, it came back cancerous. He also has several "lumps" in his face that are also cancerous. They are going to have to completely remove his nose and several portions of his face. (they have already started to graft new skin for his face) And all the while, they are still trying to figure out what kind of cancer it is. They did find out that his brain is cancer-free right now, so that is 1 positive. Jessica (26yr old) and her little sister Joann (23yr old) are just a mess over it. Jessica is planning her wedding for next summer, and is just completely heartbroken, and sick with worry over whether or not her father will be alive in time to walk her down the aisle. It is a horrible situation for all of them, and I have been just sick with worry for them. And Mr. Driscoll is only 56 yrs old himself.... I know we are all very busy, and have tons of other things to pray for and remember for our positive thoughts/vibes/wishes etc. But if you have a moment, or 30 seconds to think of my friends Jess & Joann and their dad, I'd greatly appreciate it. I know I lost many hours of sleep last night thinking about them & praying for them.... Thanks in advance for all of your help. You guys at TCS are truly great!

So sorry to hear this, I will add your friends and their dad to my prayer list..My best friends mom (my 2nd mom)was rushed to the hospital this morning and she's not good, so I know the feeling of worrying about your friends!

Thanks Helen & Fran! It's so scary for them, and my heart is just breaking for them.... Helen, I hope your mom away from mom is ok....I will remember her in my prayers (since I'm not getting any sleep anyway... )!

I'm really sorry to hear that Will light a candle for him this morning, and keep him in my thoughts. I've lost someone close to cancer, so I know how it is. Hope he pulls through ok <3

That is so terrible. I do hope they get a diagnosis soon and starth im on the right treatment, and that it works. Good vibes and stay strong for your friends - they will need your support.

How sad for him to have to become disfigured, not to mention the extreme discomfort of it all My best friend's father passed from pancreatic cancer last Oct. and it was so heartbreaking to see such a strong, dynamic man suffer and wither away so. Your friends' father is the same age as my husband Please give us any updates! Susan

Thanks everyone! I do believe that TCS vibes/thoughts/wishes/prayers work.... it is very sad, and my poor friend, although she won't admit it, I know she's kinda angry at her father for not going to the dr sooner, and then she feels bad about being angry....and she is supposed to be at her happiest now with the wedding planning....it's just so unexpected, and so strange, and at a sensative time in their lives....I appreciate all the kindness & warm thoughts. I will keep you all posted when I find out any info on his situation. Thanks again.....

I send my vibes. I work for the Canadian Cancer society and I understand the trama and life changes that occur with friends and Family when Cancer is diagnosed. I wish you and your friend and their family all the best

I am soo sorry to hear such sad news. My best friends mom (like my second mother) has cancer right now...and is not doing well eithor. I undestand how hard it can be. My prayers and thoughts go out to your friend and her father!

I can understand how your friend feels as my mom was diagnosed with ovarian cancer shortly after my engagement. (She's ok now but it was the same age as you friends dad ) and my dad has is PSA #'s watched too. Good luck and vibes to your friend and her family.

I thought I'd update you on my friends dad. He got a small amt of good news, the cancer hasn't spread through his body.....so that's good. Even though it's not in his lungs they are saying it's lung cancer, but it's only attacked his face....and he was a smoker for like 30 years. They removed almost all of his nose, and sections of his face. He was fitted yesterday for a prosthetic mask to aid in his appearance. Jess said he's in good spirits with his girls around him, and that he quit smoking immediately. Her brothers have also quit on account of this. Thank you for all of your concern, and prayers. It is greatly appreciated!
