My Sunday out

My new friend Rick and I spent the day up on Mt. Lemmon, just north of Tucson. This where Tucsonans go to cool off, during the summer and where we keep the snow, in winter.

This area is near the top of the mountain. Two years ago, it was devastated by a huge fire, which not only burned the wilderness but, destroyed 300 homes and busineses.





About halfway down the mountain is the Seven Cataracts area. This is a small stream, that runs down the mountain.

This is looking south, toward the city and Thimble Mountain:



We had a lovely picnic. Up near the top of the mountain, it was a bit chilly and we retreated to a lower, warmer elevation. Rick and I spent a couple of hours, sitting by a little stream and just talked. This was one of the most relaxing days, that I've had in a LONG time.

Ahhhhhhh! Mt. Lemmon and Summerhaven! My brother would take me to Bear Canyon Lake for picnics, or we would just find a nice spot to pull over, hike up to the edge of a good overlook and eat there.

Summerhaven is rebuilding, after the fire. There are some beautiful new cabins up there. The Mt. Lemmon Lodge is gone but, they are building a new one.

This was only our second date so, Rick is just a friend, for now. So far, he meets my criteria for "special", though. Rick is considerate, gentle, likes animals, doesn't drink much, has no kids at home and he makes me laugh. Of course, Rowdy thought that he came to see HER and promptly climbed into his lap (the little tramp)

Nice pictures!! Its interesting seeing pics of different part of the US. I'm in flatland USA!!! I too was thinking hmmm smootching in the moonlight hmmm.

Actually,we were UNDER the tree (at our ages, climbing trees is not an option)

Also, marriage is OUT - his dogs don't like cats and neither of us would dream of asking the other one to give up our pets.

Poor Rick. I e-mailed him my pix and he said that he didn't realize that he has such a BIG hole in his haircut Rick says that he never looks at the BACK of his head.

I told him that I'm more concerned with what's UNDER the hair and, as long as the hair is clean and neat, I'm good with it. At least, he doesn't plaster three hairs over it or plunk a road-kill toupee on it and think that he's fooling anyone
