I just love those cheeks. They're just like my Much's cheeks and I just want to scritch them.

Aww...we haven't had new Abby pics in forever
Those are really different for her, she looks so relaxed and playful and just begging for a bellyrub!

how old is she?
We adopted her in January 2005. Her shelter paperwork said 2 years. the vet thought it was closer to one year. Judging from her growth and behavior, we think she was less than one year when we adopted her.

She always loves to have a bellyrub! Eventually she'll start licking your hand

It really depends on what day it is

As some of you know, Abby is not the most friendly cat around. The shelter had no background info on her when we adopted her. Judging from her behavior, we are fairly certain she was a feral/semi-feral that had been somewhat socialized. When we adopted her, she was terrified of people, and a car driving by the house would send her running for cover. She has come such a long way. Now if people come over, she will hide, then slowly come out to observe from a distance. If you are a repeat visitor, she may allow you to touch her depending on her mood. Now she will run to the window when a car goes by to see who it is

Yesterday for some reason she was super affectionate. I was sitting on the couch, and she jumped up and plopped on me, half in my lap. This very rare for her to do with me. She actually climbed into Aaron's lap last night. She has different rules for Aaron and I. She will often plop up against him, but not me. I am allowed to pick her up and carry her around, but he isn't.

It is such a gratifying experience to gain a little more trust.

Abby's such a beautiful girl!! I always think of her as a shy, sweet lady.

She actually has quite a lot in common with my Harvey. He wasn't a shelter kitty, but his previous household had 7 cats. He was the cat that the others always picked on. So he's very shy and skittish. He spent the first month he lived with us under the bed. We were afraid of how Tailer would react to another cat in the house...he didn't even know he was there! He's now very loving with us, but still hides when other people come over.

What a good girl Abby was, posing for her meowmy like that! She knows what a special treat it is for you, and that you would share her pics with TCS, so she was extra nice for you!

You must have done something very nice for her within the last few days to deserve such a special treat!!!

Thanks everyone. I'm happy I finally got some picture that do justice to her coloring and her eye color.

Poor Harvey. I'm glad he has been able to relax in your home.

Abby usually looks so serious. That certainly fits with her possibily feral past. It's a delight to see her throwing caution to the wind, and having some fun.
