Am I doing a bad thing?

Instead of having an eating area for my cats, I take their bowls to wherever they happen to be at the time.

Yes, they're spoiled.
But I started doing that when Cindy wasn't feeling good a few months ago, and not wanting to eat. I kept putting bowls by her to see if I could get her to eat. And since I was doing it for her, I had to do it for the other one too. Now they expect it. They'll watch me and watch me til I bring them their food.

This is no hardship on me, I just want to make sure I'm not doing a bad thing (for them) by doing it.

I say if it ain't broke, why fix it?!
If it isn't a problem for you, then I see nothing wrong with it.Provided you are always the one to feed them.
I keep my babies dishes in the same spot, and they go to it when they are hungry. For treats,I take the bowls to them.

The only time I'd ever see a problem with this is if you have a cat sitter. Just make sure that you detail that in the note that you leave for him or her and you should be fine. Other than that if it isn't a hardship for you, I say spoil the heck out of them.

Thanks for the input. The vet said I should feed them in separate rooms, in case I ever have to feed one of them a special diet or med., is why I was curious what you guys thought about it.

I did have to give Cindy meds a couple times in her food, but I just sit there and watch to make sure there's no sharing going on. And I always pick up the dishes as soon as I'm sure they're through anyway, or very shortly thereafter.

I do have 2 small bowls I fill with a little dry food at night that stay in the same place. They're very good at letting me know it's empty too, not that it does them any good if it isn't time to fill it

And the only way I'll ever have a pet sitter watch them is if I'm desperate and have no other choice - that is, if hubby and I absolutely have to be gone at the same time (I'm very protective of my babies). If a sitter did come in, they would probably have to poke Miss Cindy's bowl under the bed for her anyway

Talk about a trained cat slave!

Your kitties better not talk to other TCS kitties - this could start a trend!

Boy, do they have me trained, you have nooo idea.

Fortunately, they're both easygoing kitties and not all that demanding. I don't know what their lives were like before I got them, and I'm fairly certain that Cindy was abused because she used to cringe if I would bend down to pet her, and she would shivver when she was sleeping or falling asleep. (She doesn't do either of those things now
) So I'm going to do what I can to make their lives as good as I can now.

All I can say is thank god there are other people who do that!! Pebbles has been spoiled most of the time she has been with me, as she wouldnt eat initially. I do try and put the bowls in the right place, and they know where they are, but Molly is very skittish, so if I walk past her (the place is near the bedroom door) she will run, so then I take her food to her. And the supper bowls are normally on teh bed as well!! Good job I am single.
