Normal behavior? (Sister licking brother in "inappropriate places"?)

Hi guys and gals. I just got two new kittens 3 weeks ago... Madison and Hayden. They are almost 3 months old and are brother and sister. I've never really had a cat before so please excuse me if this is a "dumb" question, and I don't really know how to word it in an appropriate way but...

I notice that Madison likes to lick Hayden's testicles and whenever she does it, she purs REALLY loud... I think it sounds like sucking or licking... Is she just cleaning him? Is this normal behavior? I thought at first she was doing this to his anus, but I think it's his testicles...

They are only 3 months old so they shouldn't be sexually active or thinking about sex yet, right?

Any ideas would be most appreciated.

Keith

Loving my beautiful baby girl
Yes, this behavior is very normal. Mutual grooming between cats can be a bonding, affectionate behavior, thus Madison's purring while grooming Hayden. I adore it when when one of my girls decide that I need grooming, as well, and consider it to be quite a loving honor! You may recall, as well, how mothers groom their kittens. Grooming of the genitals is not sexually related at all. It is, on the other hand, time to consider having them spayed and neutered before Madison's first heat. You wouldn't want an unplanned pregnancy, most especially between a brother and sister.

I know that it doesn't look right, but as Stephanie said it is normal.

Different vets have different minimum ages for spaying and neutering. Most minimums probably fall between 4-6 months although I've seen it done a LOT younger on shelter cats going to adoptive homes.
