To recap, many of you know that a few weeks ago we made the impossible and heartbreaking decision to find a new home for Sashka. When our puppy Ruby came into our lives, I had had cats and dogs before, and all had lived in harmony. Sunday adjusted well to Ruby and before long was relaxed around her. This transition was taking longer with Sashka but we were confident that with enough time and love and care she would be fine. A couple of months after we got Ruby, we got Chester as well, as a playmate and companion for Ruby. Again, Sunday adjusted well but Sashka seemed to get more and more withdrawn. She was still loving and sweet with me, but would not come anywhere near us if the dogs were around. This was difficult (as those of you with puppies will know) because young dogs are a LOT of work, and we had our hands full. We did everything we could to assimilate but she just was not adjusting. We tried everything, got our vet involved, and nothing worked.
This situation was made worse when we were forced to move house, and found out after we'd moved that our landlord would not allow us to have cats. Tanya (Kumbulu) very kindly fostered the girls for two weeks and then Sunday went to Mum. (We are moving at the end of our lease, we must have the cats back and we won't live anywhere without them again). But this kind of forced our hand as far as Sashka was concerned. She was miserable and we needed to do something to help her.
A friend that Max works with has a Russian Blue already and heard Max talking about our situation. She said, `You're not looking for a home for Sashka?? We'll take her, definitely!'. And so with much heartbreak and many tears, we let her go.
Well, it has been six weeks and we have had regular updates and photographs and went around there for dinner the other night. Sashka is about twice her size, so healthy, thick beautiful coat, eats off the kitchen bench out of a crystal bowl, and is about as loved as she could be. Her new family have two young sons who worship her, and she has a new brother, Ziggy - who she doesn't love yet but at least she has stopped hissing every time she sees him! Her new Meowmy, Helen, is a clinical nurse practitioner and works part time, and Sashka has a beautiful huge property (the fences of which are cat-proofed so they can go outside but they can't get outside the yard) with chooks and ducks and lots of wonderful things. They have said she is very playful and they just love her to bits!
Here are some pics.

Sorry this is so long but it's been a while since I've posted and I thought you guys might like to see how she's going.
