Hiya,

When I brought my kitten the owners didn't know his breed so they just classed him as a moggie, so thats what we have classed him as.

Someone from my horse forum showed us her bengal kitten and I thought my Billy looked rather like her.

This is the other girls kitten

This is my billy boy, these are really recent pics

Neither of the two cats look like Bengals to me but I really am no expert on Bengals. My Rocket (a moggy) looked like both of them as kitten.

We have some Bengal breeders here who will be able to let you know.

They both look like lovely little moggies to me, but I am no expert, either. I have one that is supposed to be a bengal X, but I think the vet might have been trying to make her more attractive to a potential home. I guess he didn't realize we were keeping her. We got her out of the road after she was hit by a car.

Well I thought he was just a plain tabby cat but you know when you get ideas into your head and they don't go away. Well its like that.

I'll love him just as much if he was a moggie. He doesn't need to be a special breed.

I've asked about my kitten as well, and have gotten mixed opinions. Some say its possible, others say no. I'm no expert on Bengals, but I'd say your boy is beautiful either way.

anything is possible but I'd also say that both cats (even the one that is supposed to be "bengal")look like moggies to me. Very pretty though (as all cats are).
I have seen way too many cats at shelters that the shelter claims as "bengal" or bengal x and they probably didn't have an ounce of bengal blood in them. Any cat with a spot, or likes water, or plays like a dog now is incorrectly labeled as "bengal". ....sigh..... To make them more attractive to potential adopters.
Im mean really folks, how often do you see purebred bengals wandering your neighborhood? Most people have never seen a bengal in real life. When I take my bengals to petsmart most people are amazed and have never even herad of them let alone seen one in real life!

That is true - and I did a search on Petfinders for "ocicats" out of curiousity cause we want one....you should see how many so called spotted looking cats are claimed to be ocicats or crosses....amazing

You're right about that for sure ! I live in Malta and am nearly sure that they don't exist here.... I love their coat, they are like leopards of the savana

Would really love to see one though

No. Ocicats were created in the 1960's - from crosses of abysinnians, siamese, and american sh's. It was an unexpected thing. The daughter of the breeder said they looked like little ocelots "let's call them ocicats". Even today you get non-spotted kittens-ticked aby type and more swirled markings. The spotted ones are the only ones eligable for showing. Up until recently, ocicats were still allowed to outcross to the 3 breeds that created them.

Bengals are crosses with one of the wild cats - not sure which one was used (there are many bengal breeders here that can explain the history).

But ocicats only look "wild" - its all domestic cats involved compared to the crossing of wild and domestic with the bengals.
