I would like to offer my thanks and accolades to The Cat Site for the education and enjoyment it has provided for me.
I was just reading a thread started by gayef here in the lounge and I had the thought that I have never really said THANK YOU directly.
I came on this site looking for information about something, (don't remember what now). Whatever is was, I stuck around because it looked like a nice place to visit and get help and maybe even contribute if the opportunity arose.
Some of the things I learned....
When I came here I always thought I was kind of a sub-standard cat owner because when I got a cat fixed I didn't get them declawed because it seemed like a very expensive procedure that the rich did for their pampered cats.
Well, Lo and Behold, I was doing the right thing and didn't even know it.
I had already gotten involved in a TNR program because we live in a rural area and I feed whatever cats come around and I had found Alley Cat A Allies which encouraged me to start searching here in town for programs to help me get the many cats fixed. Consequently, with so many cats, I would go to the grocery store and buy bags and bags of the cheapest food I could buy so I could feed the huge population.
I learned here about the proper nutrition for cats and what to do about it. I have since gotten all the cats I care for on much healthier food and found that you all are right about how the cats eat less to meet their needs and are healthier too.
When I have a question about a cats needs, behaviors, questions to ask a vet and generally anything to do with these cats that have placed their trust in me I feel comfortable that I can ask here and someone will either have an answer or tell me where to get one.
I'm not a paying member because I am simply not able to be at this time, but no one judges me and refuses to answer because of it.
To me this site, (meaning all of the people that make up this site), has been a God send and I am very grateful for it. Whenever someone asks me a question about cats, I tell them where I come for my answers and suggest that they come here.
So... Thank you all for giving me a place to come, making me feel comfortable and educating me along the way. It is greatly appreciated!
