How soon after a steroid shot can I expect the redness and swelling to be all gone. Abi is looking much better but I wonder when it goes away completely. She can't have another shot even if she needs it for another two weeks.

and she hates her hypoallergenic food.

Villy had a steroid injection last saturday at 11.30am and by the end of sunday it was pretty much all gone. So for us it was at least 24hrs.

She's been really hungry all week until now, probably because of the steroids.

Hi, that's ok, Villy seemed to have some kind of comedown yesterday, so maybe that's something to look out for 1 week after the injection?
It's a shame our vets didn't warn us to expect the hunger! I just fed Villy as much as she wanted, which is what I do anyway, as she is a slim cat & a previous vet said to just let her eat as much as she wants. (she is wormed regularly)
How is the rodent ulcer looking now? Has Abi had them before? Villy had a couple last year.

One to four days, in my experience. Have you tried fish oil capsules with Omega 3/6 fatty acids? One 500 mg. capsule every day, slit and squeezed over food daily for about six weeks, and then once a week for "maintenance".

Hi, we think it's stress. She's quite an anxious cat. This latest one came after she had to have a few vet visits & an x-ray to be diagnosed with arthritis. We'd also been having some work done on the house, so things may have been a bit stressfull for her lately. I've found that feliway maybe helps.......

The lysine or Omega fatty acids aren't considered a risk factor. I've found that the fish oil really helps, and has "nipped" small lesions "in the bud".
