At work I was going up for a new position, and I didn't get it. I found out a girl who did get was dating one of the supervisors that are in that division. Even though I'm not all that upset that I didn't get the job, the work place rules state that we can't date an immediate supervisor, but if it does happen then we should request a transfer. Only a few people know about this relationship, but it still bothers me that it is going on. Should I say something?

Yes. If you think you were more qualified, tell HR. If nothing happens, tell them you'll go the bureau of labor for your city/state.

That's a really touchy situation! If you tell, then you stand a chance of being looked at as a trouble-maker! But on the other hand they clearly broke the rules! I guess it all comes down to how badly you wanted the job and if you felt that you were better qualified. And it's your word against theirs unless it's common knowledge in the place!

I agree on that one.

The tryst speaks very badly about the supervisors
Maybe you're not getting the job is a blessing in disguise
I have seen situations like that before, and "fishing off the company pier" can frequently backfire into an ugly situation that is lousy for all the employees in the department! I'd wait and see if the new situation created obvious problems in the department before telling HR. If the other supes are worth anything, they should already be aware of it.
