Have you called the vet to ask what they believe it may be?? That would be my first recommendation.

Does her tummy feel like it is full of gas or does it just feel squishy??? She may have gas, that gives a cat a big belly that almost makes them look pregnant. Or, if it is squishy it may jusy be that she is eating more because she misses her brother/playmate.

So long as she is active, eating and pooing, and keeping herself clean, it sounds like it can wait until next week when you get paid. Do take a poo sample in so they can check for worms, just in case.

Good for you in separating them! What a wonderful meowmie you are!

yup, sounds like gas to me. Just watch out! My cat had it bad and she didn't mind constantly reminding us about it either.(if you catch my drift)LOL! Have you changed her food lately? That is usually what causes gas/bloating/smelly poo/etc... My cat finally stopped having gas after I changed her food to Maxxima(walmart brand) kitten food. I discovered this "secret formula" out accidentally when I found out she was pregnant and I started feeding it to her. It's cheap(about $3.50 a bag) and works! They say gas is caused by allergies to certain things in their food so I don't know for sure that Maxxima will work for your cat, but it certainly can't hurt to try.

Well, keep trying with the kitten food because(sorry, forgot to tell you) when cats eat adult food they have to eat more in order to get the nutrience they need and in eatting more, they swallow more air, therefore causeing more gas buildup in the tummy. With kitten food it has more nutrience and, therefore, they don't have to eat as much and don't have as much gas.

However, if your cat is already all grown up and you feed her kitten food, then you may also face the "risk" of getting a chunky cat if she likes to gorge herself on food.

Also, the best way to change her food is to do it gradually over a period of 2 weeks. Otherwise it may upset your cat's digestive system and cause it to throw up or get diarrhea.

Good luck!

I sometimes wonder if my babies are eating enough and I am assuming that they are.
They are now 8 weeks and nurse once in awhile and eat both kitten and adult food. I leave dry kitten food down 24/7 in their room, but since they now enjoy most of the rest of the house, they like to eat the dry adult food. At night, I give them (and mom) wet food.
They are VERY active and seem to be doing well so I am not going crazy anymore, worrying about what they eat. They seem to be awake and running around for long periods then taking a good nap to rest up for the next round of destroying the house!

Their bellies are not big and bloated and they still seem to be growing just fine.
