We're home and Ginger is already trying to get out of "her" room.
She is such a good traveller.
When we put her in the car, she meowed for a while, and then the sleepies hit her.
She tried so hard to stay awake, but just couldn't. Earl suggested when she was meowing that I should open the door and pet her, and she came right out, climbed up with her front paws on my shoulder and looked around. Then traffic got worse so she had to go back into her carrier, which she did without a fuss.
When we got home, we let Trent and Ophelia sniff her in the carrier. Ginger growled at them first, Trent then backed off (another brave boy
), and Ophelia got poofed and growled. All to be expected. Got Ginger's room set up and let her out in there. She was hungry, but didn't drink anything yet, and hasn't used the litterbox yet that I could see.
I left her alone in there to chill, and that lasted about 10 minutes before she started meowing.
She was lonely. I picked her up when Earl came in because she's already trying to rush the door, and she spent a good five minutes rubbing on my face and Earl's face while I held her and we both petted her.
AAAAWWW! Talk about melting your heart!
Trent is quite curious about her, and is camped out in front of the closed door to her room. He came in when we were loving on her, but as soon as she tried to get down to meet him, he left.
These boys - I tell you what! Ophelia was a bit tiffed and hid under the bed, but within about 5 minutes of when I came out of Ginger's room the first time, she came up to us and then went to eat. Overall, I think they are reacting really well to having a new cat in the house.
I really can't thank all of you enough for the well wishes and vibes to bring her safely home.
And especially thanks to Eileen, who took this little one in from off the mean street, got her vet care, and most importantly, gave her a whole lot of love and a little piece of her heart to bring on the journey to Colorado.
The pictures really don't do this kitty justice. She is simply gorgeous! Just an absolute doll. And then you meet her, and she's even sweeter than she looks. She has more love in her little body than she knows what to do with!
congratulations to ginger and all her loved ones !! I was on the edge of my seat too. I am readlly glad ecerything went smoothly. What a wonderful life ginger will have and hopefully no more solo flights.
